Cyclone Challenge - 106 miles - 17th June

Saturday 17th June in Northumberland was very similar to week 1 of the LEJOG trip - very hot with frequent sounds of popping tarmac road surfacing. The main difference was the strong westerly breeze which made this year's challenge a real test irrespective of the miles of training on its build-up - this was especially so between Elsdon and Greenhaugh. Staying hydrated was the main priority and it was great to reach the top of the Ryals and then enjoy a steady cruise back to Kingston Park. It was still a good feeling to complete the course given the conditions and the recovery was helped by cheeseburger and chips sat quietly in a shaded Kingston Park's west stand.😎
